RI: anyone know of missing boxes?

From: mulbie (mulbie@yahoo.com) | Date: 2002-11-20 14:32:04 UTC
Hi. We are planning some letterboxing activity in southern RI this
weekend, and would appreciate an update from anyone who knows about
any that are missing so we won't waste a lot of time looking for
them.
We are thinking about pursuing some boxes from the following
group: the "Hills are Alive" series, possibly The Great Swamp
Monument, Viking Ships at Sunrise, Queen of a River, and maybe the
Wickaboxet group. We've already found the boxes in Narragansett, and
some of the Charlestown group. Any help or suggestions will be
greatly appreciated.

The only ones that I know are missing but the clues are still posted
are Frosty Drew Quest and Perfect Summer Day. The Harbor of Refuge
boxes are all gone as are the old LMW/YIMS Pt Judiths, but these
clues have been pulled from the on-line list (in case you are working
off an old hardcopy list).

Hi mulbie,

it just so happens I compiled a list of missing letterboxes in RI.
Here is what I know.

RI Missing Letterboxes, , , 11/17/02
Fort Getty, Jamestown, Believed missing but unconfirmed, 1
Purgatory Point, Newport, Second box missing, 1
Fond Farewell, Newport, 3rd box stamp missing & 4th box missing, 2
Land Sailing, Newport, Missing, 1
Frosty Drew Quest, Charlestown, Missing, 1
Polly's Rock Quest, Charlestown, Believed missing but unconfirmed, 1
Kimball Arbutus, Charlestown, Removed by Refuge Manager, 2
Perfect Summer Day, Charlestown, Missing, 1
Trustom Pond, South Kingstown, 1st box missing, 1
Stepping Stone, Exeter, Missing, 1
Fast Track To Your Degree, Kingston, 3rd box missing, 1
Porgy & Bass, Narragansett, Porgy missing (now called Just Bass), 1
Viking Ships At Sunrise, South Kingstown, Believed missing but
unconfirmed, 1
Canonchet's Waters, Ashaway, Believe one of the two is missing, 1

As far as I know the Hills are alive, great swamp monument, queen's
river, and wickaboxet are all there. The road to great swamp
monument was closed a few weeks ago, I do not know if it is open
now.

happy hunting,

WELL THAT ANSWERS MY QUESTION!! I spent the day in Narragansett
yesterday with B_weekendwarrior and we couldn't find PORGY ---knew we
had to be in the right spot--wish I had caught the post before we
went out! oh well---nice walk any way! We didn't have time to check
BASS. But we did find Point Judith in good condition and we found
Midnight on the Moon in good condition. We set out a hitchhiker in
Rhode Island yesterday too!! Thanks for the update on Missing
boxes !! Irish Mum
